I’m glad that ProCoach has sparked your interest! It’s a terrific option that anyone who's working to get more control of their diet should consider. If you can do it, you’re going to be very happy with the results. Especially in the long run, they’re going to blow away anything that you’ve tried in the past. ProCoach will give you superpowers! Imagine going through the whole week with no desire to overeat, or inexplicably craving a big bowl of grilled fennel. For you, maybe it means getting consistently seven or more hours per sleep each night, or actually prepping those meals for the week.
First, let’s go over what ProCoach is in a little more detail.
ProCoach is an app-based nutritional coaching platform. Once you sign up, you’ll get an invitation from me to be a client of mine through the software. Initially, you’ll have to fill out some additional forms. This shouldn’t take more than 10 mins. You’ll going to also want to get some assessment pics and/ or some measurements taken. ProCoach will guide you through this. You’ll start the actual program the first Monday after you sign-up so you’ll have plenty of time to get these things done and get familiar with how things work.
Each day you’ll get an email reminding you to log-in, and letting you know what the lesson is about each day. Once you log in, you’ll get a lesson most days that may or may not require some feedback on your part. Your lesson for the day will be related to your biweekly habit (which we will go over in a second). Once you’ve completed your “homework” for the day, you can check off that you’ve completed it. Your response will be send to me, your coach. I’ll read them and give you some of my own feedback.
Every other week, you’ll get a new habit to master. These habits will be directly or indirectly related to how and what you eat or drink. You’ll check off at the end of each day if you’ve been able to complete that habit for that day or not. As your coach, I’ll see if you’ve been about to keep up with these habits or not. They’re most central to the program! This is a habit-based approach to making change. By mastering one habit at a time, you’ll slowly become a rockstar when it comes to what you eat. (Don’t worry, if you’re already a rockstar, you can choose to take it up a notch to level 2, which is through the same program.)
This is a habit-based approach to nutrition change. The opposite would be monitoring caloric intake and expenditure in one way or another, creating a caloric deficit, and maintaining it, through, namely, lack of options or willpower. You could measure your meals out or could get a food service, but you don’t own those habits. That’s the major advantage of changing one habit at a time: it isn’t a struggle, and as a result it becomes very realistic to maintain. It’s powerful stuff.
In short, the primary reason diets fail is they require too many changes at once to get going or to maintain. Research has shown that you’re allotted only so much willpower each day. You can actually exhaust it as the day goes on. Have a stressful day at work, and you’re a lot less likely to make the right dietary choices if it’s a struggle for you to do so.
The whole habit-based approach is predicated on this: the reason why you eat too much is you don’t eat well. In other words, how you literally eat food, how you decide when to eat food, how you prepare food, and even how you think about food is different than the leaner, healthier you. The habit-approach is part knowledge accumulation and part practice, but much of the knowledge you’ll gain from the program is from the practice. That’s why I like to say that ProCoach is about learning the things that you didn’t know that you didn’t know!
ProCoach was designed by Dr. John Berardi. His company, Precision Nutrition, has worked with tens of thousands of clients over the past decade, he has condensed all the curriculum of the Precision Nutrition system into bite-sized almost-daily lessons. Again, the lessons reinforce the new behaviors or habits, and over time you own a totally new approach to eating. The major advantage of using the software approach is it gives a daily nudge and check in; that was missing from the original approach. Technology can be a beautiful thing! You'll be able to look back at past lessons, and easily keep track of your progress assessment by assessment throughout the year.
Now, ProCoach isn’t for everyone. It’s actually a lot of work. It might not feel that week to week, but over the course of the year you’re going to put more than your fair share of effort consistently doing your habits, completely the lessons and biweekly assessments. You may be better off with a food service or measuring out your own food and keeping a food log. Both of these methods have their advantages, but neither prepare you very much when you’re tempted with food off the normal menu. Life happens. Holiday parties, vacations, and late night meals will come. You will be tested.
Once you go to the link on the right, decide between payment options, I'll invite you via email invitation. You'll have a few things to fill out, then the program will start the first Monday after you submit those initial forms.
We’re giving you a few ways to pay for ProCoach. The first option is to pay monthly on our auto-pay option. You’ll be charged each month, and you can cancel anytime. The second option is to pay quarterly. If you choose to pay quarterly, then we’re going to give you the fourth quarter free. This is to incentivize you to commit to chunks of the program at a time and make it through the whole thing. I urge everyone who can to try it for at least three months. For many, the process will be life-changing if you put the work into it.
You have my promise that this is a high-quality product, and that I will provide the most high quality feedback that I can. I wish that I could provide it as a service to every client, friend, and family member. It's that good. Unfortunately, that's not possible so space is limited!
And I’m sincere with saying that ProCoach isn’t for everyone. Please don’t feel obliged to sign on. I just want to offer as a service what I think is the best option for many people to take control of your diet and make long-term body composition change. The truth is, it’s not really about the “what” anymore when it comes to how to eat healthy. What’s healthy is mainstream knowledge at this point. A quick online search will provide you with more answers than you may be able to read through in a lifetime. There are more diets out there than there were recipes a decade ago. However, very few people are happy with just how well they eat and what else they put into their body. This might be your calling to take control for once and for all.
